Frequently Asked Questions
What is the first step?
If you decide you would like to explore the possibilities that counselling and psychotherapy can offer, then I would like to invite you to contact me and request an assessment appointment. You can use my mobile number to call or text me or you could complete the simple email contact form. Whichever method you choose, I will respond within two working days (usually sooner). You may wish to consider which location would be most convenient for you, Calverton or Beeston. My appointment times start at 10.30am with the last one commencing 6.30pm.
What does an assessment appointment involve?
The purpose of this session is simply for us to meet and get to know each other. You may have some questions to ask me about the type of therapy I provide. You can share as much or as little as you want in this session. It will give you the opportunity to find out if you feel comfortable with me and if you believe you could work with me. At the end of the session you may decide to go ahead and commit to regular sessions but there is no obligation. You may choose to meet other therapists to find the best 'fit' for you or you may decide that the time is not right for you to commence therapy.
How many sessions will I need?
Until therapy has commenced it is not possible to estimate how many sessions will be required. I usually suggest we start with 6-8 sessions and review how therapy feels for you. The duration of therapy is something that we can discuss within the assessment appointment and can be regularly reviewed as therapy progresses.
How often do I need to come?
In order for therapy to be most effective I will always recommend weekly sessions, preferably at the same time each week.
Where do I need to go?
You have the choice of two locations. My therapy room in Calverton is on the first floor of my home and is quiet and peaceful with on and off road parking available. I also have the use of both ground floor and first floor rooms within a counselling agency in Beeston. Located close to a main shopping area, parking is available nearby in public car parks. Public transport is easily accessible within both locations.
I am based in Calverton Mondays and Wednesday and in Beeston Tuesdays and Thursdays.
How much will it cost?
An initial assessment appointment costs £25. All sessions after that have a charge of £40. Reduced rates can be negotiated for students. Payments can be made by cash, cheque or debit card.
